I have just signed up for this forum and hopefully it can help me solve this issue that I have. My Toshiba Satalite laptop is a few years old and was really slow so I thought you know what why don't I just reinstall Vista which should hopefully speed up my laptop again. I got the boot disk from a friend which is a copy of his one, I installed in as a partition on the hard drive which worked well, my laptop was nice and quick again however when I shut it down to then try and restart it, after the start up screen where you have the option of pushing f2 for bios menu etc it then says BOOTMGR IS COMPRESSED press ctl alt delete to restart, each time I restart I get the same problem.
I don't plan on doing much on the laptop however I was just sick of it being super slow and even more tired with it no longer working. One other thing you should know is; my left control key has a dent in the chip which makes the laptop think it is constantly being pressed.
Can someone help me through the process of just getting past this problem so that I can use my laptop again.
Thanks
It is a Toshiba Satalie, Vista Home I think but not fussed which one I have on there, Ideally I would like to downgrade to XP but I don't know how to do that.
