Lost Data

Hi, is there anyone that can give me some advice please. I have a Sony Vaio FZ series laptop, anyway the graphics have gone down on it and sony are picking it up Tuesday. They told me to get what data I wanted to keep off it obviously before they have it incase they lose it or whaterver. Basically I took the hard drive out and put it in an encloseure connected it to my main computer and selected copy (the whole 'm' drive) and proceeded to paste it into another drive, everything started quite well it transferred about 50 gig or so and then slowed down and eventually come to a halt. Without any warning the computer shut down, anyway when I restarted and checked the laptop drive (m) it was showing that everything was still there but all folders etc contain no bytes, when I click properties for that drive it says that there is still 147 gig in there....strange and only 32 gig coppied to the other drive.

So basically what Im asking is there anyway of retreiving the data as it was only copy and paste and not cut....Thanks to anyone in advance
