hi
to start with i have this "please wait while the connection is beeing established"virus which means i cant access anything even in safe mode.
My question is this i cant access system recovery options in the advanced boot menu(accessed by pressing f8 while booting). Also i get no recovery options while booting from the packaged recovery disc(all i get is install which i cant complete even if i wanted to because i havnt enough disc space)i have read the system recovery tutorial on these forums and in method two i get the screen in part 3 but i dont get the screen in part 4.Where do i go from here to get the system recovery options?
I am running Vista home premium 32bit

Your fantastically fast yard thanks again.
okay on boot options in bios setup doesnt recognise flash drive as removable only as a 3rd hard drive so if i set the flash drive as 1st hard drive then move the hard drive to boot first i just get an error message while booting"reboot and select proper boot device or insertboot media in selected boot device and select a key".I'm starting to think that out of the top floor window option is looking to be the best bet

thanks again for your quick reply yard.
looking at the 3 options you have given me.
Maybe its me being dumb to start off with.i have no trouble setting bios to boot from discs or hard drive etc what im not sure off is if i have downloaded progam to run properly.i have downloaded and installed program to both CD and flash drive what happens is boot just continues to load windows and ignores my media.have i missed something should i burn program to disc or run program and set as a bootable disc i dont understand how it would boot up and run a program without some kind of instruction after all all thats on the media is a bunch of files.how do you set up a disc to be read while booting.
Sorry to be such a noob normally i love playing about with the internal workings of computers but this is getting really annoying.

I sincerely apologize.. just checked at malwarebytes forum. and it will not boot .. load windows normally, then insert the media and have it run the program.

these are all the options i get in the advanced boot options
safe mode
safe mode with networking
safe mode with command prompt

enable boot logging
enable low res video
last know good config
directory services restore mode
debugging mode
disable auto restart on system failure
disable driver signature enforcement

start windows normally.
any of the safe mode options and the last know good config just lead to windows and the virus.
directory services restore mode seems to work but again just leads to windows and the virus.
enable boot log i assume works but as the computer doesnt actually crash and i cant access anything in windows i dont know if the log has been created
debugging mode again no idea if it works
not tried the others.
I can with the aid of the motherboard set up disc gain access to freeDOS if there is some way i can use DOS let me know. although malwarebytes has to run in 32bit tried that already

"Ransom" malware? Holy cr@p. I hadn't heard of this before. Some deviously nasty hacker gets you to SMS money to them in order to "unlock" your computer from their grip? This is insidious. We now have "pay by smart phone" in addition to PayPal to easily send funds electronically, but this opens up a whole new world of opportunity for the devious people.

Anyway, I hope when you said "helped me no end", you meant there was no end to the helpfulness and that you're back up and running. Did Kaspersky work? They've helped me in the past, back when they had that terrific full system scan available on-line for free. They still provide free virus utilities, including a generalized removal tool.
