    Good Afternoon All,

    First off thank you for taking the time to read this. I am having a problem with my alienware computer and need assistance fixing windows.

    I had windows vista 64 installed on my computer when i bought it in 2009. Until a couple weeks ago everything was fine. Then one day I got a message saying "BOOTMGR file is missing". I couldn't use a recovery cd because i bought the computer while i was in Afghanistan and lost the CDs while over there. My wonderful brother decided that he use his vista recovery CD on it. The only problem was that it ended up being a 32 bit version. Now i have Windows vista 32 and my computer doesnt seem to work with it. I dont have any internet connections (broadband or wifi) for example. I was wondering if anybody could help me get windows 64 back on the computer. I still have my windows activation Key.     Here are a few options ....
    1. Find someone who has a Microsoft installation DVD with 64bit.
    Use it to do a clean install. You MUST use your own Vista 64-bit product key.
    Tutorial for clean install :
    Clean Install with a Full Version of Vista

    2. Google for a Windows Vista 64-bit ISO, burn it into a bootable dvd and use it to restore your Vista. again, you must use your own 64-bit product key.
    This is a legitimate source authorized/approved by Microsoft, published by Dell.

    3. If you don't mind spending some money, upgrade to Windows 7. In that case, you will be given a new product key for the Windows 7 operating system.

    adding ....
    Whichever option you may finally select, make sure you backup all the personal files you wish to keep to an external hard drive or flash drive, beause everything will be gone when you start restoring your Vista 64-bit.
