    I have no idea and I can't find anything on google so I suggest you can your system with your favorite antivirus/antispyware as well as malwarabytes.

    So that was a file that didn't have the extension. Adding it probably would have worked.

    I believe what happened is that the file extension was removed so all the OP saw was the name and got confused.

    Yes I would go to Control Panel,Folder Options,View and uncheck the Hide extensions for known file types.
