[Help] Recycle bin freezes, windows explorer crashes, delete windows dont close

Hello all,

I have been having a problem for quite some time now. I'm unsure when it started happening because it's been going on for such a long time now. So, here's whats been going on.

Every time i try to delete something, it finishes deleting and the 'Deleting' Windows stays open and it tells me its calculating how much time is remaining and it says 0 bytes left. o to get rid of the window i have to restart windows explorer from the task manager. Another problem i've been having is that when i rename a file, i can't X out of the window that i renamed the file in and i have to restart windows explorer for it to work. After i restart WE the folder/file is renamed. The last problem linked to this is that whenever i move/copy a file, it keeps the 'Moving' window open and i can't close it unless i restart windows explorer.

It's a real pain to deal with this and if anyone could help me out that would be great...

I have an HP desktop running Windows Vista x64 Bit. If you need anymore info just let me know. Thanks guys

Wecome Vinny,
I think that we may be able to solve your problem. Initially, a few reasons come to mind for your problem. Lets go step by step
Update and make a full anti virus scan
Download and make a full scan with Malwarebytes.
Run an SFC scan
http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/66978-system-files-sfc-command.html
Run 3 times if errors are found.
Finally, if nothing else is found, hit alt cntrl and delete at the same time on your keyboard, bring up task manager.
Go to process, click show process from all users. Then give us a screen shot.
Take a memory test

Thanks for the reply,
The malwarebytes just finished scanning but didn't detect anything. I just started the 2nd SFC. The first one found some stuff but couldn't fix the corrupted files. I went to go open the CBS log and it told me access is denied (I'm an admin on the computer).

I can show you how to get the CBS, but run SFC three times to fix as many errors that it can.

Quite a few problems, there. Do you have an install DVD?
If no, do you have stuff that you want to save?

That disc is to back up your stuff. If you backed them up, boot the computer and as you boot, rapdily and many times hit F10 if nothing happens try f11. If nothing happens now, post for another option. The F10 is suppose to restore you to the way you were the day you took the ocmputer home. None of your stuff, no updates etc.

Yes, unless you have a hardware problem updating to Seven, with a prodouct key would be fine. May I suggest. When you install they will ask for the key number, do not give it. Install make sure it works then we can activate with a key. We DO NOT want to use a good key, if the computer is bad.
