SFC Errors

I started having problems with my laptop a few weeks ago. I'm using Vista Home Premium 32bit and using IE 8. Every time I click on a link an ad or a blank page pops up in a new window. Not your typical pop up. I'm thinking that's virus behaviour? I've tried running a couple different virus scanners with no luck. Also when I try to click on certain things like email attachments or pdf files on whatever site I happend to be on, IE crashes. It tries to reopen a new tab but it can't and IE goes in a cycle of website crashing, trying to retrieve website and crashing etc. I've already tried resetting to default settings to no avail. I've been doing a lot of research and came across something that said to run the System File Checker. I did and there are errors but I don't even know where to begin with how to fix this. Here is the cbs log

My laptop didn't come with a Vista DVD. I think it has all that stuff preinstalled. In that case what would I do since I take it I'd only be able to do a clean install?

If I do that though, will I not lose all my personal data?

Ok, so 8 hours later and 6DVDs later I backed up everything using Windows backup. Does that backup my games like Diablo and the saved games files or do I have to do that seperate? Also, is it possible that if I do have a virus and I do a clean install and restore my files from the backups that I might end up reinfecting my system?

You cannot back up the software if you are going to reinstall. You must install again and you will need a product key number if applicable.
Yes, its possible that the virus is in one your your personal files or software.
Check your stuff individually with this. If it passes you are ok

How do I reformat using the recovery partition? I've tried "o" and F8 while the computer is booting up. It gives me "Repair your computer" as an option so i select that and then it lists System Restore (which I have already tried to no avail), memory diagnostic tool, etc. If I select Toshiba Recovery Wizard, it asks for recovery discs which didn't come with this laptop. Another option is to reset from my backups, but when I put my discs in, they are not recognized. Help! I'm ready to just completely reset this thing to factory settings if I can just figure out how.

Boot from CD? Even though I don't have a disc to boot from? Or wait, you mean the back up discs I made using Windows backup? I tried using those under Advanced Boot Options>repair computer> reinstall using backups. But when I stuck in disc 1 it wouldnt recognize it. It kept saying "insert back up disc"

The link in the above quote allows you to make a reinstall CD. All you need is a product key number.

There should be a tape with the number on it. It is a long number separated by dashes.
