Hello friends, I have a compac presario cq 60; 32 bit; windows vista home basic and I have a lot of problems with my computer.

1.Application failed to initialize : 0¤8007006. The handle is invalid
I receive this message each time I start my computer.

For the two I have searched on the internet how I can solve this but it couldn't help because some of the files I was instructed to click were not there.

3.Security centre can't be turned on.
It says, 'the security centre service can't be started"

4.Windows defender can't initialize.

5. Cannot install microsoft netframework which is required for me to install my usefull softwares like blackberry desktop .

6. Can't check for windows updates
It says' windows update cannot currently check for updates, because the service is not running. You may need to restart your computer', I restart but it won't help. Please rescue me guys. Thank you.

Run a sfc /scannow in an elevated command prompt. Maybe the system file checker can fix some of that.

Hello tsmrg, and welcome to Vista Forums.

If this just started recently, then you might see if doing a system restore using a restore point (if available) dated before this started may be able to help.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

HI,
Scan for Malware in Safe Mode with Networking.
How to start Windows in Safe Mode
Windows Vista
Using the F8 Method:
Restart your computer.
When the computer starts you will see your computer's hardware being listed. When you see this information start to gently tap the F8 key repeatedly until you are presented with the Windows Vista Advanced Boot Options.
Select the Safe Mode with Networking option using the arrow keys.
Then press the enter key on your keyboard to boot into Vista Safe Mode.
When Windows starts you will be at a typical logon screen. Logon to your computer and Vista will enter Safe mode.
Do whatever tasks you require, and when you are done, reboot to go back into normal mode.

Once in Safe Mode with Networking, download and run RKill.
RKill does NOT remove Malware; it stops the Malware Process giving you a chance to remove it with your Security Programs.
RKill Download

Then, download, install, update and scan your System with the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware in Safe Mode with Networking:
Malwarebytes : Malwarebytes Anti-Malware removes malware including viruses, spyware, worms and trojans, plus it protects your computer

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

If you are using Norton, AVG, Avira, Microsoft Security Essentials, McAfee, etc the default action is for Windows Defender to be disabled, as those AntiVirus Programs have their own Antispyware Applications.
It is nothing to be worried about.
Using the two Programs at the same time can cause System conflicts, etc.

Cheers.
