Display Task Manager In System Tray

Having the Task Manager icon permanently displayed in your System Tray is a practical and convenient way of monitoring system activity with one click of your mouse, such as RAM and CPU usage, along with running programs. And it is also useful for closing your browser after a sudden, unexpected crash. Here is how to place it there and have it start up with windows:

Go to Run and type "regedit" (without quotes).

Next go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Right click on Run folder and choose New>Key (folder) and name it "TaskManager" and copy/paste the following string into it:

start /min c:\\winnt\system32\taskmgr.exe

Next: Copy/paste the taskmgr.exe file from your Windows/System32 folder to the Startup folder found in your Documents folder.

(Note: If you you cannot find your Startup folder for whatever reason, usually because it has been accidently deleted, you will need to create a shortcut to it and place it in your Documents folder. To do this, click on "Tools" on your User folder menu, choose "Folder Options" and click on the "Options" tab. Next, tick "Show hidden files and folders" and then Apply and OK. You should now see your hidden folders displayed. Now open App Data>Roaming>Microsoft>Windows>Start Menu>Programs folders, where you will find the Startup folder. Right click on it and select "Create shortcut". Finally, cut and paste the folder shortcut into your Documents folder. In the future, if you want a program to startup and be displayed in your system tray, you simply copy and paste the programs .exe file into this folder, unless of course the startup option already exists in the programs prefrences.)

Finally, right click on your Task Bar and choose "Task Manager" which will then open in your system tray. Now choose "Options" from it's menu and check mark "Always on top" and "Hide when minimized". Done. :D
