Hi,
Let’s try to do few troubleshooting steps on the computer to check if the issue gets fixed
1. Please use the following link for detailed instructions to check if Data Execution Prevention from Command Prompt is set to on: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/120778-dep-enable-disable.html
2. Try to do SFC scan now and check if the issue gets fixed; Use the following link for detailed instructions: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/66978-system-files-sfc-command.html

Please post back with the results.

I honestly believe that Microsoft disabled Windows Error Reporting with one of its security updates. I can't change it either.

Windows Error Reporting can be found in the registry at HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting. I tried changing a couple of the data values to re-enable it but was not successful. I honestly don't know exactly what values to use. Perhaps someone who has it working can tell us what the values are for "Disable" and "Logging.....".

AFAIK, it still works in Windows 7...

Are the default registry values contained within that file?

Error Reporting reports that it is turned on in both Services.msc and the System Configuration utility.

Why would they do that? I don't understand how Windows Error Reporting could hurt anything. AFAIK, it still works in Windows 7...

Thank you, Roy69. Are the default registry values contained within that file?

Error Reporting reports that it is turned on in both Services.msc and the System Configuration utility.

I do not know if these are the defaults, however my error reporting is working.

By the way, Windows Error Reporting in Win 7 is now in the Action Center. That's what gave me a hint that perhaps it was turned off in Vista by an update. When I click on the above Attachment, Windows wants to know if I want to "run" error.reg. Don't want to run anything. The attached shows my registry settings.

I don't think that it has changed for me however I have it hidden. I also have it disabled through group policy.

But why would they disable it only on Vista? Is it because they don't want the reports from Vista? I ask because they treat the operating system like it isn't worth anything.

Do you have a particular reason that you are wanting it enabled? Do you have a problem to report? Also have you scanned for malware?

Well for starters, I don't like it when I'm restricted.
I have some driver issues and it is advising me to check for solutions. I can't figure out the problem.

Yes, I have scanned for malware.
