Solved How can I get my base score up to 5.7?

Can someone help me please, I have a Toshiba satellite A200 and my base score is 3.0 I have games that are 5.7 how can I get my base score up to 5.7 or do I have to get a new computer

Helllo Leigh, and welcome to Vista Forums.

Double check to make sure that you have all of the latest versions of your device drivers installed. These can affect your WEI score. Especially for "Graphics" if you didn't have them installed already.

If not, then unfortunately, that would usually mean that you will need to buy faster hardware to replace the ones that you have low WEI scores on.

Could you post a screenshot showing your full WEI screen to see what it says?

You can do so by looking to see what it says your WEI score is for "Graphics" in the WEI.

Hi Brink, I can't seem to get a proper picture so I typed it in, hope this is ok

Processor - 3.7
Memory Ram - 4.5
Graphics - 3.1
Gaming Graphics - 3.0
Primary hard disc - 5.7

So it looks as though I will need new computer? And if so what do you recommened for a Laptop, thanks heaps mate, Leigh.

Well, the main thing is to check to see what the specific minimum system requirements are for the games, then compare them to your computer specs to see if computer meets them.

The WEI score is not the best of indicators for requirements.

Since this is a laptop, there's not really anything you can do to make it faster since you can't replace any hardware on it.

A 5.7 WEI score is just 0.2 points from the top end (5.9), which means the games with that rating are extremely CPU and GPU intensive.

The hard core gamers tend to use workstations, as they're much more configurable than a laptop. The biggest items are the GPU (graphics processing unit) and the data bus. GPU's are constantly being updated with faster and more feature rich capabilities, so gamers need to upgrade their GPU's every year or so to keep up with the latest games.

If you're just into a few games that are processor intensive, you could settle for a high powered gaming laptop... but if money is a critical factor, you're best off with a work station. Forget the Toshiba... it's way under powered.
