re-installing windows vista / partitions

when installing vista i formatted my drive and partitioned it into 2 equal halves or so i thought no when i enter (my computer)

all i can see is the C:drive with os installed with half the drive allocated?

no D: drive with the other half?

is there any way i can get the other half back or must i start the re-install again? to do it

i have a second related question some of my drive is reserved for acer restore.(pq service i think)
but as i have done clean install that is no longer needed is there a way i can recover that space using similar method or other method?

That section has your factory restore image. If youre good not having it. You can ditch it by formating it.

its located (hidden) on the same drive as my os? dosent have its own drive letter.


how would i do that with out loosing my os?

It's a partition that exists without a drive letter. You can delete it and then extend your 2nd partition, or you can give it a drive letter and format it. It's the very basic installation of the original operating system. The far more useful thing to do is to use your current image as the base restore point (use Macrium Reflect or other software to create it). Why? Because once you've applied all of the updates and installed all the core pieces of software you need, why start from scratch with the Acer restore image if you ever need to start over? It's far more productive to use a richer backup.

You need to open the Computer Management screen through the Administrative Tools. In the tree list that appears on the left, click on "Disk Management". Wait a moment and your disk devices will appear. From there, you can do the functions I mentioned.

and deleting that acer restore wont cause any problems will it? it is ok to do it?

there is a partition unlettered 14.65gb in size healthy (EISA configuration) is this the hidden restore partition?

Yes, the one without the drive letter looks to be the partition containing the Acer recovery. FYI, "C" is always the primary partition that houses your operating system. As long as you leave that alone, you'll be fine.
