Hello...Recently I did a clean re-install of Vista HP bringing the computer to the config.it was four years ago.All went well...I un-installed the bloat s/ware using Revo...updated with Win update 322 updates thru SP2..it is now current with no failures.
I installed CCcleaner, MSE, super anti spyware, malwarebytes.. ran them all.No issues. Ran sfc, Check disk...all showed no problems.
I cannot defrag the disk....not with the internal program nor with Auslogics, Defragger or others. They all run analysis ok but each will freeze the entire box at 12%. Can't get task Mgr.. crl/alt/delete does not work.I must shut down holding the power button down for a few seconds. On reboot I'm asked ot run chkdsk after which the box boots normally. Any Suggestions??? The computer otherwise runs very good.

My suggestion is to back up your files. You should also run at least a check disk but preferably a full scan with the manufacturer's diagnostic utilities.
