Backup User Account Permissions

I've set the permissions for my external hard drive so that it can only be accessed by my account. Access is denied for everyone else. I want to backup the permissions, in case my computer crashes. How do I do this?

I have only set permissions, not encrypted the files on the drive.

Welcome
Excellent question and I hope to present an excellent answer that will apply to everyone.
Download the free Macrium Reflect and create an image on an external hard drive.

Update once a month. If you ever have a problem that requires an reinstallation, you do not have to install the OS, then the software and then setting and then your stuff. Everything is on the image, just tranfer to your Hard drive and you are set to go.
Macrium Reflect FREE Edition - Information and download
Yes this does look like using a jack hammer to crack open a nut, but the true purpose of Macrium is to save you in the event of a major problem, so why not use it for a secondary reason, too.

Hello
So it isn't possible to backup user account permissions. Backing up the enitre drive is a good idea. But since hard drive space is an issue, I don't think I'll be doing that. I have decided to use the permissions to deny access to all other users anyway. If my computer crashes, I still can use Linux to access the files.
Thanks

You could try with a system restore, but I have doubts. Create a restore point, now change one of your settings. Restore with the System Restore point. If you went back to the original settings, you can back up with restore.
