Hi.
I have just rebuilt a new laptop and wish to install my previously registered version of Vista on my new laptop.
The previous version came pre-installed on a new purchase and I made recovery discs at first use.

a) Is this possible?

b) How can I do it?

Any advise and assistance would be greatly appreciated.

:D

Welcome
I am sorry to tell you, that what you want cannot legally be done. You have an OEM version of Vista. The rules state that it can only be used on that one computer. I would suggest that you buy Windows Seven. You can get it at discounted prices, now, since Eight has been released.
We will be glad to help you install.

I concur with Rich on both counts. When your previous laptop was activated with Microsoft, it was locked to the hardware that it was running on. Microsoft has strict rules that it cannot be transferred. Resale prices of both Vista and W7 tend to be about the same, except where Ultimate is concerned. If you're going for Home Premium, I'd get W7.
