Hi,
I had a problem a couple of months ago which someone on here very kindly helped me with but unfortunately i have another one now which is really going to stuff me up as I can't access any of my university files at the moment.

Basically, when i try to open windows explorer it crashes and won't open. I now also have realised that the folder icons on my desktop will not open either....

If anyone could please help me i would be eternally grateful!

Thanks

Welcome
Run a full antivirus scan
Download and make a full scan with malwarebytes
If they are negative go back to a week before the problem with System Restore.

Hi, Thanks for the suggestion.

I ran Malwarebytes and it discovered three things, which i removed. I then since have run system restore four ot five times and it keeps doing it but although I select a restore point of say 12/03/13 when it has restored it says 'system has restored to 13/04/13 so is only going back 2 days even though i am telling it to go back a month.

Looking now and running Malwarebytes it looks like i may have got the three issues back again... although i'm not sure, could they be regestary faults?

Also, the computer keeps stripping google chrome every time i system restore and/or shut it down so i have to keep re-installing that too just to have a reasonably good working browser.

Still no nearer recovering my uni work for my dissitation due in in 3 weeks :-/

Please help?

Thanks you

Ned
