I have no guess what caused your issue. I tried to do something with group policy... keep IE from starting. But, a program that was installing launched it anyway. Apparently during install the privilege level is raised. So I resorted to a more definite approach. For that reason I lost interest in using Group Policy.. since I'm the only user.

A search on Microsoft Knownledge Base did not find any direct hits. I would try posting on MSDN. Also search the Windows "annoyances" sites.

Hi MilesAhead,
But my problem is related to administrative templates folder is empty in the Group policy, I mean I don't even have the option to prevent IE from launching, because the administrative templates folder is empty.

But thanks for the help.

I know the folder is empty. I just gave a reason why I don't use Group Policy. Knowlege is gained by personal experience. For the reason I gave, that it's not useful to me, I have nearly none with Group Policy. I would try the resources I noted above.
