Dell Printer v725w status "offline-offline"

Hello.

I have a new printer for my Vista, the Dell v725w. However, it will not print. My problem is with the Vista as the printer can scan and make copies. I just for whatever reason cannot print. Whenever I click "Use Printer Offline" to turn the on the printer online, instead it states "Printer status Offline-Offline". It says "offline" twice! When I click again, it goes back to "Use Printer Offline". I cannot turn the printer back online as "Use Printer Online" won't show back up! :sa: I also get a message saying that it is a communication error.

On a side note, does the "WI-fi" and "Ethernet" icons on the v725w need to light up to indicate that the printer is communication with the Vista desktop? If so, that could be my problem and I don't know how to turn on Wi-Fi/Ethernet" to fix the communication.

I hope someone can help. Thanks.

The last two replies have not helped me on this topic.

Here is the a screencap on whenever I try to right-click the setting of the printer to turn it from "offline" to "online". It says "offline" twice and I can't figure out how to turn computer back online

First I would delete all those copies that say (Copy n) where n is 1 2 3 etc..

It looks like you have some registry issues. I would try removing the excess printers first.
Let me know what happens.

I used a combo of various registry error software such as Auslogics and JetClean. While both programs combined clearned up most of my registry errors, neither program was able to fix my printer program. I still get the "offline-offline/offline" option whenever I right-click and try to turn the printer online.

Vista before SP1 had an issue where networked printers had to be accessed by creating a virtual port. I see no indication of your service pack level. If you have no service pack that may be involved. It's been several years since I did it. But it's just a guess.

If possible I'd try the printer on a friend's machine. The basic diagnostic technique is divide and conquer. No sense trying to fix something until you know where it's broken. Trying on another machine has the best chance of giving an indication where the issue is.
