Making All Files Visible In Downloaded Program File

Hi,

In c:\ windows\downloaded program files, I see references to Java and Shockwave. But there are a number of files in this folder that I do not see. I have all files visible in the folder options.

I know that there are other files in this folder because I can see them when using command.exe.

Advice please

Thanks

It may be better to get the folder out from under the Windows folder. I have been downloading to C:\download since Win9x and it's worked well.

Windows\Downloaded Program Files is NOT a standard folder - it's a system folder for storing active programs such as ActiveX apps and Java.

It should not be moved, or tampered with, unless you have broken add-ons in Internet Explorer

From the description for Disk Cleanup for XP - with still applies to Vista/7/8/8.1 (and probably 9 as well)
Downloaded Program Files - Downloaded program files are ActiveX controls and Java programs that are downloaded automatically from the Internet when you view certain pages. These files are temporarily stored in the Downloaded Program Files folder on the hard disk. This option includes a View Files button so that you can see the files before Disk Cleanup removes them. The button opens the C:\Winnt\Downloaded Program Files folder.

Thanks for replying.

Disk Cleanup tells me that there are no files in Downloaded Program Files, 0 bytes. But there are.
Command Prompt shows a file ISUSWEB.DLL - part of InstallShield, but Windows Explorer only shows Jave and Shockwave.

I am confused
