Too much free memory

Edit: I made a mistake in the thread title

Normally when I start Vista I have between 400-500 mb free memory and after an hour or so (95% IE9) it drops to less than 50 mb according to the task manager, this has always been the norm. It will stay at this level until the next time I shut down and start the computer, usually the computer is put to sleep when I am not using it. A few days ago I shut down and started the computer and had over 1000 mb free memory, after several hours on the computer (and five or more sleep sessions) I still have 500-700 mb of free memory. I tried restarting it several times and the same thing happens. Malwarebytes shows it is clean and no software (other than MSE definition updates) has been downloaded. I also did a systen restore to 10 days back and it's still the same situation.

I would very much appreciate any help with this, the computer is running fine but something has definitely changed and I'd like to correct it.

Thanks

I would open an administrative command prompt. do
cd \windows\Prefetch

make sure the prompt shows you are in the Prefetch folder, then do
del *.*

that will clear out the Prefetch queue.

I wouldn't worry about having a lot of free memory. I see that often on my machines. After a time the system seems to settle back into loading up the memory again. I don't think there's a way to instantly effect it. I frequently clear out my queue just for grins. The system compiles new stats on usage and loads up th queue again in short order.
