USB OVER Current Detected

Hello,

I'm new to the forum.

I've this recurring problem for several months now...

Warning USB over current detected
Please remove over current USB device
System will shutdown 19 second!

I unplug all usb's from back expect keyboard and reboot, then I get...

Alert! Previous attempts at booting this system have failed at checkpoint [7FH]

When continue to reboot trying F1, going into setup F2 it finally boots. But, it's taking
longer to clear each time and it's happening with more frequency

I also have 4 removable drives appearing in the Devices with Removable Storage section
of Computer (removable disk I,J,K,H)

Please help,

You need to isolate the USB device that is causing the problem.

First make sure you can boot normally with only mouse and keyboard plugged in.
Then power down, plug in one USB d3vice then power up.
Repeat until you find the one causing the problem and replace it.

You don't think it's the virtual removal disk drives?

I have an icon on my taskbar that says...

Safely Remove USB Mass Storage Device Drives(G:,H:,I:,J: )

If I remove them will that make any difference?

Those are probably flash card readers either in your computer if it's a Desktop or in your printer.

Try isolating as I mentioned, see what happens.

Hello again,

Yes they are flash from when I used flash drives and forgot to uninstall before I shutdown from time to time.
I also have already tried the USB by elimination. It boots normally for several days and the problem reappears.

That's why I was thinking the flash drives may be the problem. So it's okay to just delete them anyway?
I don't know what else to do short of paying the tech man...I really want to avoid that if possible.

Hello Again,

I won't bother you again, but I just tried to eject and remove the 4
removal drives and I get....

An error occurred while ejecting Removable Disk (I: )

So, what's causing that?

I don't see any built-in flash card readers on the computer.

You can delete them but since they are not actually connected to the computer that can't be the cause of the problem. It could be a damaged USB port so take a look at the link I gave you. You can try disconnecting the front USB ports by unplugging them from the mother board, just make sure power is off and the power cord is unplugged first.

You can trace the cable from the USB ports to the mother board then unplug them. If that fixes the problem then just leave them unplugged and use the rear USB ports. Can't do that with the rear USB ports as they are normally soldered directly to the motherboard.
