Solved Disappearing Hard Drive space

I have been having an issue with hard drive space disappearing. I actually got down to 0 hard drive space. My husband took our laptop into work, as I thought it must be a virus. According to his IT dept. it was not a virus. The IT guys were able to get 67GB of hard drive space back, but within the last 10 days I have gone down to 54.9 GB. We haven't downloaded anything so I know something or some process is eating up the hard drive space.

I noticed in a previous thread someone else was having the same issue and they were told to turn off disk defrag scheduler. Funny because I did have disk defrag scheduled to run every wednesday pm. All day on Wednesday I had 61.6 GB and on Thursday morning I had 56 GB. After reading about disk defrag I turned it off, ran CCcleaner, windirstat and anti-malware. I believe disk defrag is the problem but I can't find any files to delete after running the windirstat. I notice in the app it has a Clean Up tab. Is there something I need to do??? How can I get my hard drive space back?

I would go to computer right click C: and click disc cleanup when finished click more options and delete old restore points and shadow copies that should find some space.

Thank You... I ran it again and deleted the old restore points and I am back to 68.5GB. I believe there must have been a build up of old restore points using up hard drive space after each disk defrag! I will only run it when it gets to 10%.
