Solved Windows Explore

Why is it that every time I open Windows Explore in Vista, it opens with many folders expanded as oppose to only looking at the C:\ drive folder and a couple others. It's annoying to have to go through and close all of these folders to get to what it is I want to look at. How do I go about keeping all of these folders closed until I need to open or expand them?

Thanks for your reply. Look at the Print Screen files to see the difference between Windows Explorer showing all folders closed as oppose to several of them being open when you click on Windows Explorer. Normally when you open Windows Explorer, it should look like file explorer2.jpg, but instead looks like explorer1.jpg file. In other words, all folders should be closed as oppose to several being open.

On the left hand side explorer is automatically going to expand the folders all the way to the current one. As far as I know there is no way around that however you can hide that folder view. Your screenshot is too small to see but for me there should be an arrow above that section pointing down. If you click on that arrow it should hide that entire section. You can click on that arrow again and expand it. You can also drag the divider to the left had decrease the size of that entire pane.

Again, here are the two files. What I have now is in file explorer1 file. I am trying to change it to file explorer2. I have already tried manipulated the Target window for Properties of Windows Explorer and it did not work.

OK, here we go again. Derekimo was nice enough to give me some information how to do this. I can see the files above this message, I just hope they stay there after I click on submit reply. Here goes:

YEAH! It worked. OK, one more time, I am trying to change my Windows Explorer window when I open it to look like the screen shot on the Right shot. It presently opens like the screen shot on the left in my last post. Thanks Derekimo. Be aware, the Screen shot you are looking at is actually from my Windows 7 computer. My problem exists on a Vista OS on my neighbor's computer. I am only showing how his looks with regards to many folders expanded as oppose to them being closed. Reference my previous postings above to get the whole picture.

Just thought I'd let anyone know that I found the solution to my problem. I had to change the Target line when you click on Properties for Windows Explorer. Just revise the entry as follows:
%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /n, /e, C:\ click on apply and then OK. Problem solved.
