Solved Show or Remove Blocked Programs

Lately, on start up, I have been getting an alert in the notification area of Blocked startup programs.
This is same list that I get running msconfig and choosing the start up tab.
The start up programs that I do want to run are checked. Those that I do not want to run are not checked.
So, I don't need the notification. Is there a way to turn the notification off?
Thanks
Frank C

Since programs are "disabled" in msconfig.exe, it's possible that the message is from something like your anti-virus. Is it possible to provide a screenshot of the message? I assume you're using Vista SP2.

This is but a minor inconvenience. I don't know how this message is produced.

I have been just choosing exit.
Yes, it is Vista Ultimate 64 bit SP2

From the Vista help file-

  • You can remove a blocked program from startup so that it won't try to run automatically each time you start Windows. Removing the program from startup won't remove the program from your computer.

  • Right-click the Blocked startup programs icon in the notification area.
  • Click Show or remove blocked startup programs.

    Does that help?

This is caused by User Access Control. I don't know what setting you're using for security. I don't use it at all but, when I did, I had it set to the lowest value.

Wither 3,

On this laptop with Vista Premium, I can only have access control on or off. There is no intermediate choice.
If I look at MSCONFIG > Startup the only one that I can safely disable is Quicktime.
The other two that are "Not Yet Classified" by Software Explorer are Secunia and Webroot. I do want these in startup.
I'll simply continue to exit or just ignore the message.

Thanks

I'm not on my Vista system right now but you can adjust the UAC security settings.

The screenshot you provided appears to be the one referenced by the Help. Have you tried clicking on Show or remove.....?

My Vista Home Premium User Account only has a check for:
"Use user account control (UAC) to help protect your computer."
It can be checked or not checked.

Here is a look at Start up in Software Explorer:

Well, my apologies. What I was thinking of is the security levels for Internet and Intranet.

If you selected Show or Remove................ in the notifications, what is shown?
