Who's Sticking With Windows Vista? :)

A little bit different than the situation for Windows 7, since we're not entitled to a free upgrade. But is anyone getting antsy to make the move?

Vista x64 Home Premium SP1 ran fine on my quad core. I tried clean install up to Windows 7 64 bit but some of the stuff got munged, like start menu. So I backed it off. No way I would upgrade to a Glass deprived OS from Vista.

As it is now I only have a Laptop. It came with Windows 8.0. I haven't even upgraded to 8.1. Since it is my only machine I see no reason to take the risk. The major problem with it was failure to process Restore Points. But I think I have that fixed now. So I don't feel the need to upgrade.

I would probably be happy to have Windows 10 if I bought a smart phone or tablet. But for a full sized Laptop I don't think so. I like some eye candy.

I just did a resinstallation of Vista for some other reasons. But I'm really liking the end result. It runs soooooooo well on my system. I'm hoping that I can extend the length of time I run it with someone hacking updates from Server 2008 Classic. We'll have to see in April 2017.

I'm definitely sticking with Vista on this PC, and I'm in no hurry to buy another one. I have considered upgrading this PC to Windows 7, but posts at HP Support Forums indicate that in-place upgrades regularly failed for my model. I also found some reports of problems with clean installs. Windows installation discs aren't cheap, and Windows 7 isn't really much of an advance over Vista in my opinion, so I wasn't inclined to see if I might be the lucky one who had no such difficulties.

Still, both Vista and my hardware are getting pretty old. Within the next 2 years I will probably buy a Windows 10 PC with SP1 (or 10.1 as the case may be). If my present hardware is still kicking, I might continue to use it for various applications, but not for surfing the net.

Sticking with Vista and Seven. The last Microsoft operating systems to actually care about aesthetics. Ten is all about connectivity (and monetizing). Ah, for the good old days, when men were men, and PC's were PC's...

I just bought a new laptop and reinstalled Vista about a week ago
Biggest problem is the delete key being in a different location
Never really had a problem with Vista in the past so will keep it.

I'm keeping Vista and Win 7 on my two systems. The problem with the system that has Vista is that it's 7 years old and the Win 10 Compatibility checker says it's incompatible. The other issue is that Microsoft says that, for those who get the free upgrade, Microsoft will provide the standard updates and security updates for the "life of the device". Then what happens?

I bailed on Vista when 7 came out, 7 when 8 came out and 8 when 10 came out. I like being current :)

I have move from Vista to Seven, Seven upgraded to Seven Pro & then to Windows 10.

I now only have a Windows 10 system, as I have dumped the others.

I'm sticking with Wimblows Blista (I have a Win 7 Disk), but as I built my desktop for Vista, it as a rule runs it fine. I have far more better things to spend my money on, like Jewellery lol.

On a more serious note, I personally don't have the $$ nor the inclination to keep up with Jones.
