    Unusual activity?

I am running Vista Business 64 on a Dual Core Intel 6.8 with 3 Gb of RAM.
Whilst sitting idly and contemplating the world, my CPU suddenly started in overdrive - about 65%.
On checking the running processes I found that the Ribbons screensaver was the source, running at 56%.
I am NOT using this screensaver, preferring the Windows logo.
Why therefore should Ribbons be consuming so much capacity or indeed, running at all?
    Thoughts please.
    Thank you

    Hi Caseman,

That doesn't sound right to me either. Doesn't make sense. Turn off your screensaver all together to see if that helps. In Task manager under the running processes, if you END process, does it stop doing it & does it continue again later/soon afterwards? I would scan your system for a VIRUS or some sort of SPYWARE/ADWARE to be safe. That's what it sounds more like.

    Hi Shawn

Yes, I ended the process and the activity stopped and has not restarted. Will keep an eye on it but maybe another Vista quirk.

    Thanks
