for a better vista rating with 2 graphics cards, do both cards have to be the same...? cuz i got an 8400 gs and 6200turbo and my rating is the same as i had with a 8400gs...no performance upgrade
I went from one 8600GT to two 8600GTs in SLI and my performance rating went from a 5.5 to a 5.6. Performance in games went up about 40%, however.
that 3rd slot is for Physics cardsII actually have a third pcix slot, which is not 16x but 8x, and it's not SLI'd, thus it can only be used for another vid card + 2 monitors, which I'll do in a couple of months..
Cards from two separate retail companies will work together in SLI mode, but they must be the same GPU model (e.g. G70, G73, G80, etc). The cards may have different BIOS revisions, different default clock speeds, or even different memory sizes. However, the fastest card - or the card with more memory - will run at the speed of the slower card or disable its additional memory
