Hey, I was wondering how I could allocate more ram to my graphics card. I went to bios/advanced but the video graphics mode was not an option. Am I doing something wrong? Please help. Thanks ;) -Matt N.

My laptop is a Toshiba Satellite A215 with 2gb RAM and my gc is a ATI Radeon X1200. integrated 319mb

If I'm remembering correctly, onboard graphics generally take the amount of memory they need. It's application controlled. There is an upper limit that it will not take beyond what the "card" allows.

Sadly, with laptops you are relatively limited in improving your graphics beyond what you start with. I have heard of some people improving things, but I honestly don't remember how. This is part of the reason many gamers who want expandability will never give up their desktop PCs for a laptop.

The only way that you can allocate more RAM to the GFX card on a desktop is to physically add more RAM to the chip. If you do it using software, you're bound to run into trouble.

In laptops, there is a limit to how much it can use. If you like to tinker and mess with the BIOS, then by all means find a to change the maximum amount of RAM.

You just might get a bricked Toshy though :P
