re: Latest NVIDIA ForceWare Video Drivers

Thanks for that Shawn. Yes I am running 175.16 and so far it seems problem free but I haven't really given it a long gaming test yet.
I have noticed that when my monitor goes to "sleep" it now takes about a minute to come back on after moving mouse etc. whereas it used to be almost instant but I'm not sure that that isn't down to SP1.
What do people think about Rivatuner not seeing the driver? Is anyone else having the same problem?

Cheers All, John

re: Latest NVIDIA ForceWare Video Drivers

Your welcome John. I'm not sure why Rivatuner would not see the correct verison, but I'm not using it. My guess is that Rivatuner may need an update.

re: Latest NVIDIA ForceWare Video Drivers

Hello All, I've updated Rivatuner and it still shows no driver.
Is anyone else using Rivatuner with the latest Nvidia drivers 175.16?
If so are you having this problem?
I've updated it, uninstalled and reinstalled etc and still nothing.

Thanks, John

Shawn, xguntherc,

Thanks for your help but I think I've sorted the problem and have been wasting your time.
I discovered 6 folders of Rivatuner 2.09 in one of my user folders. It seems I thought I'd been installing it over version 2.08 but had merely been extracting it.
I've installed it now and it does show 175.16.
So, sorry about that and thanks again, John

PS. Shawn. This Obama guy looks amazing from over here- good luck with that

No problem John. I'm glad to hear that you got the problem sorted out.

I agree. I would like to see Obama win it to see whay kind of changes he can make for us. We need some good changes badly here and towards the rest of the world.

re: Latest NVIDIA ForceWare Video Drivers

ya I did that when I first installed it also, it didn't give me a shortcut on desktop, or in system tray thing by start menu.. so I kept re extracting it.. I had installed 7 times.. then I realized it was hiding in a folder in program files.. so I added a shortcut, and a start menu icon and was good.. I shoulda thought of that one and told you.. sorry. lol

and Obama.. ya ya.. I'm down for that. I usually don't vote anyways.. what good is it.?? nothing comes from "Me" voting. I can't help anything, they are going to do there dirty work anyways.

But, ya I'd like to see Obama win also.. only problem is sadly. I'd be worried about a 6 month at Max: assasination attempt. also as much as I think we should not be in Iraq, i think it's a BAD idea to just straight up pull out. we need to finish what we started.. if we leave now.. the Taliban will get going strong again.. Kill EVERY Iraqi that helped us.. and have more hatred for us than they already do.. then we will probably have a second 9-11, and have to go back in 2-3 years and TRY to finish the job.. With no local help, or tips cuz they all got killed for helping last time.. So we'll have to TRY to win, with no help from locals, no freindly's to hide out with, a pissed off Iraq, and a Nuclear Iran..!!! So as much as I would love to see my freinds and family members that are there to come home.. We need to finish what we started.. or we shouldn't have gone in the first place.. Sorry, just my opinion...

The problem comes from too many people thinking just like you do, and not voting, and then not realizing that your votes *could* have made a difference.

And I certainly hope you're not one of those who doesn't vote and then gets all mad if the wrong candidate gets elected..... :P

RE: rivatuner - hmmm, interesting. I am definitely going to have to play around with that thing - If I can figure out how to rewrite the BIOS Of my card to change the temp thresholds then I'll be golden - currently I am using eVGA's Precision utility, but that is wasted RAM for software just so I can have the card not be outrageously hot all the time....

re: Latest NVIDIA ForceWare Video Drivers

true true.. I was waiting for someone to say that.. Everytime I do someone has your answer.. that it's people like me.. that if voted, could have made a difference.. but REALLY, I'm not tryin to get anyone mad. I like you.. we chat all the time, but really, in all honesty.. What could me voting change.. NOTHING.. all the BS, all the corruption is there for the most part... for good. some changes, not all.. and I can't do **** about it!!!!

although I do see your point, if LOTS of people don't vote that think like me.. enough of us that it could have changed the outcome.. then maybe.. but still, those are little bits here and there, each in different states.. probably not enough in any one given area to REALLY make any difference.

and no, I'm not one of those guys that does not vote.. then cry's when the wrong guy gets elected.. I don't do that... I just sit back and watch.. Vicariously watching the whole world die!!! no jk. (From a tool song). I'm not the dude sitting home watching it all on TV then saying we should do something about it.. thats not me, but I do say what i think at times...

just cuz I'm curious. Who did you want this year john?? (Running, or done already, whoever it is??)

and as to Rivatuner.. it's great.. does everything you need it to, well for your GPU that is, change clocks, fan speeds.. make ur own OC profile and set it for startup. or not.. has a monitor.. has all you need.. it's a great little tool and doesn't take up much on resources... check it out.

p.s. my 8800 GTS OCE (G80) runs at a fairly ok temp. Idles around 52 or so.. not bad for the big, hot G80 chips.. thats cooler than a lot of others.. and thats only on 60% fan speed. so mess with Riva and do what ya need.

Can I make a confession? *I* am one of those that thinks like you :P

It may be why we get along....

I was having a Devil's Advocate moment....

re: Rivatuner - I don't want a profile like thing that works at startup on *windows* - I have that - it's called the eVGA Precision utility :P
