re: Latest NVIDIA ForceWare Video Drivers

With the refund from the 8800GT plus another 40 GBP ( about 80 USD ) I could get a BFG 9800GTX.
I could just about run to that.
What do you think? I'm real paranoid about BSODs and the driver issues I've had. I don't actually think there's anything wrong with my Gigabyte 8800. It's just Nvidia can't make a good driver for it in Vista 64x.

John,

I never used the 8800 GTX, but there are a lot of people that it works fine on.

If you want a very high end card, that will do it. I have not heard of any problems with it yet, but then again it is still new. The drivers for it are the same ones that I use, and I'm not having any problems with them on 64.

I'm not sure if I need newer ones or not. hopefully they are current. my machine is only Decent. nothing special and it plays crysis ok with the 8600GT. most on med. some on High settings.. I just wanna make sure I have the most current drivers...

re: Latest NVIDIA ForceWare Video Drivers

I'm currently running the 174.74 beta nVidia drivers for my 2x 8800GTX's on Vista x64. They seem to have an intermittent problem when quitting out of games, the display just goes blank!
Official 169.25 worked a treat though.

No problems here with 2 8800 GTXs, Vista x64 and 174.74. Crysis, Gears of War, Civ 4, World in Conflict, and all Steam games run fine.

Hi xguntherc,

Those would be modified drivers by XFX, not the official nVidia drivers. The latest ones for your card is 169.25 or 174.74 beta from the link on the first page here.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

re: Latest NVIDIA ForceWare Video Drivers

Hi all. Eventually got a BFG 8800GTS OC 512MB for just a few pounds more than Overclockers refund.
I've just installed it. Played Crysis for about an hour on default settings and it looked amazing. Temperature about 75c.
Then played some music in Winamp for 2 hours with Milkdrop 2 on full screen, temp 65c.
Huge beefy card (though not as big as the 9800GTX), had to move one of my hard drives to get it in.
I'm running on 169.25 and so far so good, I'll keep you posted. J

re: Latest NVIDIA ForceWare Video Drivers

yeah I haven't been online this site much this week...my damn evga 780i mobo died on me after using it for less than 30 days, but got a replacement.
Anyways, I finally bought another BFG 8800 GTX OCII to run SLi...do I have to install my nvidia drivers 169.44 twice?
