No. Those specs are well below the requirements needed to run Vista.

Re: video card/pc help

You could 'get by' with everything except the HDD. 10GB is not enough to load Vista. Your cousin's friend probably has a bigger HDD. Vista will not run well, even if you add a new HDD. You will constantly hear about how Vista sucks and does not run worth a dang.

Vista uses the graphics processor to offload all graphics tasks from the CPU, allowing it to run faster and more efficiently on what are considered 'high-end' systems. Without an adequate graphics processor (the mx440 is not adequate), your CPU will have to handle the graphics subsystem (default in Home Basic), running slower and bogging down constantly.

Well if that is the case then why did you even ask here? Ask the damn friend of your cousin's sister in law twice removed, don't jump all over the ass of the man that told you the truth. Upgrade bits of it since you are so clever lol. Let us know how it turns out. I am especially curious to know the results of trying to install it on a 10 GB hd. I fyou get it to work write us a tutorial please.

Re: video card/pc help

If i installed vista on a comp with those specs, it'd cause some kind of rift between different realities.

My advice would be to get some basic new hardware. Core2 processors are so low in price theyd pay me to buy one, & 9600 graphics cards are a steal, ddr2 ram is also worth looking into buying 2gb for the prices
