| Vista™ Ultimate x64 | New Monitor I know this isn't a Graphics Card related thing, but it is the closest I can get. At the moment I have a Hyundai ImageQuest Q17, and I think it's way to small, that's why I will be doing a student job in the Summer Vacation, what screen do you guys recommend? Here are a few things it should have. - Good brand, a brand you can trust. - Widescreen - 19' or up - NO reflecting screen - DVI - Compatible with Vista What do you guys recommend? |

| Vista Home Premium 64bit | Re: New Monitor Well i would like to suggest a 22 inch samsung 226bw i believe thats the tag name. This moniter is sick. 3000:1 contrast ratio, 2ms response, vista ready, nice design for any location. It can be a bit pricy but its one of the best monitors out there. Samsung makes some of the best products in the world. I highly recommend this monitor. My friend has this monitor and the picture is so clear and crisp. $359 at best buy. I cant find it on newegg. Samsung - 22" Widescreen Flat-Panel LCD Monitor - High-Gloss Black - 226CW The title says high-gloss but thats the frame and not the monitor it self. Good luck in searching for a monitor. ALSO I own a westinghouse 5ms respone 22 inch widescreen. Its cheaper around $250 but its a nice monitor. Not as fast as the samsung but does the job just fine. |

| Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: New Monitor +1 for that I second the Samsung 226BW.. I have one personally and I love it. It is probably hands down one of the BEST monitors you can buy.. If you don't want gloss.. but a great glossy screen is the HP w2207h, it's not actually all that bad of a gloss either. Go with a Sammy 226BW. many places rate it as the best. There is something you will find a LOT LOT of information about this exact monitor.. called the Panel Lotto. Basically Samsung released this monitor.. and all the review sites gave it great ratings (It's said that they all got S Panels).. There is now 3 actual PANEL's of the same model (226BW) on the market. S Panel- Made by Samsung A Panel- Made by AU Optronics C Panel- Made by Chi Mei (or CMO) *panel being just the screen There is tons of posts online saying how terrible the A and C panels are, and that the colors are wrong, and that the backlight bleeding is worse.. but really, the S panel has about the same % of these problems. and the fact is, all LCD's have SOME sort of small problem, sometimes the colors don't get tested the same at the quality controls so they look off when first plugged in. Just install Sammy drivers and ur good. set it the way you want. thats all thats needed, some have dead pixels, some have bad backlight bleeding. (This all is for ANY producer) I personally got the C panel, and it looks amazing, the best LCD I've ever owned. better than my brothers HP monitor. I've put my C panel next to an S panel, and mine actually had LESS backlight bleeding than the S panel, it's just a thing that might happen. so if you read anything about this.. Don't worry about it.. and get the 226BW.. and if something is wrong. take it back or RMA. either way it's one of the best and fastest LCD's on the market.. seriously I'd get the Sammy. Here's also something else to consider. the Samsung 226(CW) instead. it's sort of a replacement, but not really. What’s the difference? The BW series use panels with a 72% color gamut (which is typical of most LCDs). The CW use LCD panels that has a 92% color gamut. Such a high color gamut is usually reserved for graphics professional LCDs; perhaps the cost of such technology has dropped. But for some, the colors almost seem weird becuase it's not like the average LCD.. but in reality. thats the way they all should be, cuz the colors are Vibrant, rich, and crisp.. Just might look weird if put next to a average LCD. but really it's better. the CW might cost more, but what do you want.. it's up to you.. I'll say it again. I'd get the 226BW.. Sorry so long, thats the REAL deal.. let me kno what you do.... Good Luck! |

| Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: New Monitor Samsung. Just make sure it's HDCP compliant or you're going to be upset a couple of years from now, if not sooner. |

| Vista Ultimate | Re: New Monitor if viewing angles are a problem, i wouldnt go for any 22", they all have TN panels in them, which are the best for gaming, but the viewing angles are terrible, and also have less contrast ratio and colours compared to S-PVA, MVA and S-IPS monitors, but thats only if viewing angles are a problem, i have a Sasmung 24" 245B, which is a good screen, but the viewing angles are terrible, but that doesnt bother me, If they do, find a screen you want and get the model and then search on here TFT Central - LCD Monitor Information, Reviews, Guides and News for the panel it uses. |

| Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: New Monitor Hmm.. above I posted about the 226CW having 92% color Gamut.. well right there on John's Link above the top one has the stats listed.. I've now found that since Samsung released the 226CW, they changed the Gamut on the CW to be 97% color Gamut. thats one of the closest to TRUE colors for LCD on the market. I've heard nothing but Great things on that screen, and that it's a Gamer gone LCD maker. and it's as good as it gets for gamers and other high end users.. get that panel. that price is great might I add! |
