Re: NVIDIA PhysX System Software

Yanno, silly me *did* try to update the WHQLs - I'm a moron.

I already have Driver Sweeper, so I'll build my modded 177 again, install CUDA, uninstall and driver sweep (in Safe mode) the WHQLs, and ...then what?

Cause when I reboot Vista will automatically install the stupid 169.25/.44 WHQL drivers, right? or should I perform the 177 install from Safe mode?

ok this is what i did.......

install CUDA kits ..(not sure what they are for yet) ..install physX driver both of these can be installed while still working from your WHQL ...then uninstall current drivers (i have never used driver cleaner i dont think its really an issue unless changing GPU manufacturers)...(dont bother with safe mode)
once desktop is back to 800x600 you will be ready...
restart the machine ...& install modded 177.xx .....thats it

there is a option to enable physX in the control panel under ''view 32-bit control panel items''

why does your rig automatically install drivers...??
mine will sit there on what vista calls ''standard VGA adaptor''...untill i manually install

Re: NVIDIA PhysX System Software

On the reboot, it reinstalls devices automatically, and since the 169.xx driver is built into Vista, it will use it - but if you uninstall and then install without a reboot, then I suppose you're right.

Re: NVIDIA PhysX System Software

OK, yanno, I did it like this:

Installed CUDA 2, then CUDA 2 toolkit, then CUDA 2 SDK, installed PhysX software, then performed a benchmark, removed my driver, rebooted, installed 177.41 driver and bench marked again- and it basically didn't change. anything on 3DMark.

Re: NVIDIA PhysX System Software

Hi, this is my first comment on this website and i would like to say hello to all the vista x64 users!

about this post, i only have a question about this: "Adds support for NVIDIA PhysX on GeForce 9800 GTX, GeForce GTX 280, and GeForce GTX 260 GPUs, including SLI configurations."

Does this mean i can use Nvidia PhysX with my 9800gtx ????

thanks in advance for the answers, cause i thought Nvidia PhysX was made with the GTX 280/260 Gpu's only!

Hello Epicurus, and welcome to Vista Forums.

Yes, you can use the PhysX download with your 9800 GTX card.

Re: NVIDIA PhysX System Software

Thank you Brink!

But i thought Nvidia Physx was new and actually a new feature for the 280/260 GTX gpu's, since AEGIA PhysX was a card you had to bought it.

i am very confused! but i will go right now download these Nvidia PhysX drivers!!!!

i was about to go buy a 280 GTX ONLY for PhysX!!

Re: NVIDIA PhysX System Software

Yeah, the 9600 models like mine are not supported yet.

The 9800 GTX models and newer (higher) are supported.

Re: NVIDIA PhysX System Software

Brink - the methodology that skunk wrote about works fine - I now have the PhysX software *and* the 177.41 drivers, and it works, for all intents and purposes.
