well, thats probably gettin pretty close.. the GTX280's get well above the 80C area sometimes.

I'm sure thats fine, but I myself am always more comfortable when it's under 65C. thats just me. Try turning up the fan speed. It's probably set to be going at about 30% or less.

Program called RivaTuner will allow you to adjust the speed.
Have any questions feel free to ask.

turning up the fan speed will NOT viod your warranty. the fan to spin, thats what it's there for.. I use 65% or 70 on mine, stock is 40

Thanks,

wait, on Rivatuner you can't change the Fan speed.. im SURE you can. are you going to the right area?

there should be a bar with the fan.. you can adjust the slider up or down, you may have to click a check somewhere to allow you to slide the slider. but you should for sure be able to adjust that..

or even easier, less crap everywhere. download the eVGA Precision software.. you might not have a eVGA card.. but oh well. it should work fine, I've heard it work with peoples BFG 9600GT's. Give this a try. very easy to add fan speed, and OC the card. but be careful with Overclocking. ask questions first, don't risk frying the card Sir.. Mkay.

also how was the concert. do you live in vegas. I'm in Henderson. and yes this city has WAY to many very hot girls. it's a little depressing because there's so many. and I only get a few a month. lol but I do pretty well. :)

update your system specs so we know ur stuff.. so I didn't have to guess if you have a eVGA card.. ya know!

Yea i live in Vegas its right on the border of henderson. Well you get more girls than me lol and the concert was great there were two chicks making out for the cameras and me and my friends were chillin on a bridge over the pool and they stopped right in front of us and had their back turned talking (btw they were in bikinis) my friend was like wow my camera sucks so i naturally pulled out my phone and snapped a couple shots :P. There were like 3 or 4 girls grinding a pole right before the concert and the bartenders were hot (and in bikinis :P). It was really fun! Yea let me also update my system specs real quick for you lol.
Oh yea and btw... Once AGAIN it wont let me switch my fan speed. I dont know if its because its a laptop or what but its aggravating me.

Hi masterjego...

following Gunther's posts ....Rivatuner does allow fan speed correction.

if your Rivatuner looks like this..
rt.JPG
then it is not recognizing your drivers..

solutions..

1... disable driver signing on startup.
2... uninstall Rivatuner & reinstall.. sometimes if you install new GPU drivers over the program it fails to work

Ya I'm on Stephanie and the 215. thats crazy. how old are you man?

sounds like a pretty good concert. post that picture you're saying you took. :)

So did you actually try Precision.. and I'm pretty sure you should still be able to turn it up even though it's a Laptop. I don't see why not. or doy uo possibly have a cooling pad that you sit it on while using it?

Im 18 i live on bermuda and St. Rose. I tried precision and the fan area was faded out. I tried clicking different buttons seeing if that would help and it didnt. I dont know why its not letting me lol. If i can figure out a way to upload the pic without having to buy a cable i will lol. Ill probably just use my webcam to try and get a good pic of it. And ive been thinking about a cooling pad but some people have said some bad things about them thats making me hesitant. like it messed up their computer etc. But it was probably more likely their fault than the pads.

to add a picture you can hit the prnt screen button right of F12 on the keyboard. then go into paint and paste it in there.. you can put a screenshot into paint, save it, and upload it. I just did it. and here's my precision and here's the button you click.

See how it says auto next to the fan, and the slider is greyed out. Click that icon that says Auto with the lights on it. when you unckeck that you can turn up the fan, other than that I'm not sure what your doing wrong. or if it's just your card.

Maybe try doing a driver update. Thats really weird, it should be working.

on the first picture try clicking the Square on same place as the first picture. click check enable driver level hardware overclocking. and maybe that will let you.

also you should be able to change it in precision also. not sure why not. let me google it and see if I can find anything out

ok, so I found some info, it's some Stupid info and just is one more thing to add to Nvidia being stupid, cheap, and cutting corners. If you've purchased a New 9600GT, there's apparently a second edition of the Newest wave of 9600GT's and the 8800GT's that are the same, but different. they can't be adjusted. the Fan's only have 2 wires coming off them and into the cards board. those 2 are for power, and if there is a third wire, thats for speed control. Nvidia and many many company's that make the cards are only using the 2 wires and are not allowing fan changes. the fan should get louder during games when it's needed, and slower when it's not needed. if thats not happening then maybe its' a driver issue.

So basically how new is your 9600Gt, when did you buy it, what brand is it.
and if you don't mind opening your case, you don't even need to touch anything, but look and see how many wires are coming off of the fan. like it's main power wire should have 3 wires. or 2, if you see only 2 wires from the fan, then thats bad news.

let me know what you find out. Sorry man

Well i saw 3 wires lol. Yellow, Black, Red. I dont know why it wont let me change the speed then lol let me see if i can find any driver updates (if i can remember how to do it) Ok i went into device manager and looked for driver updates on the graphics card and cpu couldnt find anything else that looked like it could have a difference. And there were no updates.
