what kind of card can i get?

Can i buy a vc with directx10 even though my pc says im running a 9? i have vista and thought it was 10 ready. also noticed the newer cards are rated gddr2,3,4 and so on - are these numbers in reference to the ram i am currently running and have to match? i have sddr2 i believe so am i limited to a gddr2 card? mb has pci x16 and am currently running a sapphire ati 5500 :o and definately need an upgrade but illiterate to most of the terms - i dont want to buy something i couldnt use - plz help - ty

Vista has dx10 but you need a dx10 card to use dx10 that is why you have dx9 cause your card only supports dx9. The ram is for the video card not your computer ram.

so i can basically get any midrange card as long as my power supply can handle it per say the geforce 8-9 series? thinking a gddr3 for the faster clock speeds (limited budget atm - kids lol) cause if i can u have made my day - thanks again

Just make sure your power supply has enough power to run the card that you pick.
