Toshiba laptop, GeForce 6600 - Vista using VGA driver

Good day to you all

I am not sure if it's okay to post my problem in here or not but I hope johnletcar allow me to do that:D.


I do have a similar problem. I have toshiba f20 Qosmio w/ Gforce 6600 but when I upgrdaed my windows to vista it says Standard VGA graphics adapter ,when I install the software from Nvidia (178.24_geforce_winvista_32bit_english_whql)it says (setup detected that the operationg system in use is not windows vista 32-bit. This setup program and its associated are designed only on windows vista 32bit. The installiation will be terminated ) even thu that my windows 32bit. I also tried to install the 64 version but it didn't work, so anyone could help plzzz!:o

Normally it would be better to start your own thread to avoid confusion between your issue and the original poster's issue. The other thing would be hijacking someone’s thread. Just something to think about :)

Now as to your problem - You need to find out what version of Vista you're running, in this case 32 or 64-bit. Once you know that, download the appropriate drivers for your card and go from there.

loneliness, and welcome to the forums.

FWIW - don't hijack other people's threads for your own problems. It makes conversations confusing. Unless you have the *exact* same problem occurring on the exact same machine (same hardware) you are better off making your own posts.

Secondly - in addition to knowing the version of Vista you have, be aware that some OEMs force you to use drivers from *their* websites only.
