PCI-E is not the same as PCI.....

your PCIE (Express) slot is for your GFX card & runs with a x16 bandwidth, whereas your PCI slots, have a much lower bandwidth but will run your sound card or any other expansion card...

you can also get a variety of ''low performing'' PCI GFX cards, but theyre pretty dire..

as seen here.....

1) PCIE x1
2) PCIE x16
3) PCI
4) PCI

Re: PCI-E what is it?????????

ok. lemme reexplain.

i wanna upgrade, as u see i already have a geforce 6150 nforce 430 graphic card built in. when i bought it.

no since everything requires so much graphic on my pc. i have decided to upgrade.
i know i have a pci express x16 slot empty. so basiclly i know. i can buy any pci express x16 graphic card. but they need to fit my power supply.

but when i was on ebay(lol) i saw this guy selling all PCI-e. i looked it up on google. it talked about pci express. so i'm confused.

so just saw i want this

512MB Nvidia Geforce 8400GS PCI-e Video Graphics Card - eBay (item 330305359399 end time Mar-05-09 08:53:41 PST)

it says that it's a pci-e. m question

WILL IT FIT A PCI EXPRESS X16 SLOT?

also can i use ati?
my mobo is a ecs nettle

PCI-E, PCI-e, PCI Express, etc... They're all the same. If you have a PCI-E x16 (x16 is the speed that the slot can run at, x64 is currently the highest) then you can use any PCI-E graphics card, even PCI-E 2.0 graphics cards (newer cards that use a new "faster" slot on some motherboards). If you have a PCI-E x8 slot (looks the same) you can still run a PCI-E x16 graphics card, the graphics card will just run at x8 instead of x16.

Yes you can use ATI PCI-E cards as well.
