Vista - 2nd display stopped working?

hey people, im new here so b gentle haha

basically, ive been using 2 displays, a 17" lcd monitor and my 40" samsung hdtv.
i use my 2nd display(TV) for when i watch films on my pc, then select back to normal single display once i have finished(it annoyed me the pointer would go off screen onto the 2nd display when i wasnt using it) and it was working fine like this for ages, then 1 day i activated 2nd display as normal, but it wouldnt reconise it what so ever.

ive tryed reconnecting all the wires etc but it still doesnt reconise the 2nd display??
all i can think is maybe some kind of update has changed settings and made it not reconise it?

and help would b greatly apprieciated?

maybe you could try and uninstall and then reinstall the drivers for the graphics card?

well to uninstall right click my computer -> properties -> device manager -> display adapters-> your card -> uninstall
then restart and make sure you have the latest drivers for your card (check the manufacturers site) and then reinstall them
