Random freezing is usually caused by faulty or not enough power from the power supply, all so u can try to clean the psu, use compressed air to blow the dust out.

are you monitoring your GPU temps while gaming..??, if the picture freezes its also a possibility the card is overeating....

how long has this been a problem..??, is the machine new..??

Hi again madhu96v. Update your gpu drivers from Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers and if you havent already done so click the link in my sig and update your DirectX and all the other stuff, plus download CPUID

Open your pc and remove all dust, route cables away and check all connectors. Once back at the desktop play your game. If it freezes again then ctrl alt delete to open task manager and open HWmonitor and check all your temps. If you have to restart your pc because ctrl alt delete wont work then open HWmonitor immediately when you get to the desktop.

My Computer

The computer is just 6 months old and I don't think there will be a lot of dust inside it but the screen just freezes for no reason when I play a game in full quality mode. I have updated it and even though i keep all the settings to low still it freezes.......is the graphic card lose on it's socket or something?
I'll be grateful if anyone solves my problem
The problem exists from when i bought it and i downloaded CPUID and the gpu temp is 67C and my computer is running on XP pro sp3 32-bit (something called AUXTIN is 119C)(What is AUXTIN?)
Thanks

I think your barking up the wrong tree with this being related to the GPU , 99% of the time freezing issues ingame are due to faulty ram , run memtest offline (bootable version)

Don't take that for granted. My PC is just over 6 months old and I gave it the first good cleaning inside the case, and the dust filters were caked in dust

AUXTIN temps are usually your PSU temps, but this temp is inaccurate for a lot of people, so chances are your components aren't at 119C.

Has the computer frozen while not playing games?

If youv updated everything and defragged the hard drive your next step should be clean the pc.

Switch off the pc and remove the power cable at the back then open the side panel and remove all the dust and try to route the cables away neatly so they dont impede air flow. When youv finished cleaning out the pc put the side panel back on and plug back in the power supply cable and then start your pc.

The next step involves going into the bios and making some changes for this il need to know the exact name and speed of your components eg: corsair dominator 8500 @5-5-5-15

CPU:
Motherboard:
RAM:

If you dont know what each component is download CPUID and take a screenshot of each tab and post it here.

My PC doesn't freeze when I'm not playing a game.........and I'll try memtest and try to open it and clean it up......and the games which the PC freezes for are- NFS Undercover, Prince of Persia-Sands of Time (Mostly freezes if they are in high quality mode) :( And stew2, the info are on the screen shots, hope you give me some advice :D

Im afraid thats it. Il put a little list of the things you should do and after all that if it still freezes then its either a temperature issue or the game.

1. Click the link in my sig and do everything there
2. Clean the dust out of your pc and route cables away neatly
3. Download and run Memtest86.com - Memory Diagnostic
4. Underclock your graphics card and install more fans

You should also post two screenshots of HWmonitor with the app stretched so we can see all the voltages, temperatures etc. Take the first screenshot after your computer has been idle for 30 minutes and the second screenshot when the freeze occurs when your playing a game.

How can I take the second screen shot as to which when the computer freezes and is inaccessible? The only thing I can do when the computer freezes is to restart it. I have no other option.

Anyway thanks, stew2

Sorry for not replying for a long time stew2, but i checked the temps after the computer had been idle for 30 minutes, it shows 47C (the GPU)

Thanks

No problem madhu96v ( The Cool Guy lol), 47C for a graphics card at idle is'nt bad but could be better. Im using a passive graphics card and my temp is 39c at idle.

Its hard to say without seeing screenshots as it could be a voltage issue or temp issue once the computers under load

I'll post a screen shot as soon as the computer freezes and when it's idle

OK il take a look when you've posted them. You really should do the little list of things i listed, as at the very least it'll rule out RAM and HDD errors and improve your pc's performance and stability. Which aint a bad thing lol

its not a heat issue , gpu's never lock up when they get too hot , they automatically clock back (slow down) to 2D speeds
