| Vista Ultimate SP2 x64 : Seven Ultimate x64 | Re: just asking Mate, there are numerous reasons why your games could be crashing. Did you remove and clean the drivers with driver sweeper before switching video cards? Also the 2600Xt is a couple of generations old... whatever driver support ATI claim they have for that card would have long been halted. It may be 'supported', but there would be no improvements added to it's functionality. |

| Vista Ultimate SP2 x64 : Seven Ultimate x64 | Re: just asking More like years ![]() Try this before buying a 3rd card: Download driver sweeper and install it: Guru3D - Driver Sweeper If you haven't already, download the latest Cat drivers: Drivers & Tools | GAME.AMD.COM Now, go to control panel>Control Panel Home>Uninstall a program Then uninstall the ATI Catalyst install manager: ![]() This will uninstal the current CCC and the drivers. Once this has completed Re-boot into safe mode. (press F8 just after the BIOS and before the windows loading bar appears) In safe mode, run Driver sweeper as admin by right clicking on the driver sweeper icon, selecting properties and in the compatibility tab tick the 'Run this program as an Administrator' box. ![]() When driver sweeper starts, select only the ATI box and then analyze and clean. Close driver sweeper and re-boot windows normally. Now install the latest drivers. If you are still crashing in 20 mins or so, then you have another problem. |

| ultimate 64 SP1 | Re: just asking hmm...... what 3870 do you have then pizzaman..??![]() ![]() source anyway..... as these lads have stated, ATI do make great cards..... i mean look at the humble HD4850 above.. , i find ATI's issues dont lie in the H/W itself but the relationship they seem to have with other components (PC) , sometimes they dont gel....depending on the 400w unit & depending on the amount of peripherals you have running, the 400w unit should power higher end cards.... though its not recommended, a GPU can strain itself quite badly if there's not enough Amps or the current itself is fluctuating b/c its a cheapie.... so....yes the high end cards may work, but your certainly pushing the boundaries... |

| Vista Home Premium x64 SP2 | Re: just asking I was gunna say too pizzaman XD... The 9800 GT is the 8800 GT with physx and cuda support added in and capable of a larger memory buffer. The 8800 GT was designed to compete with the 3870 in the first place. |
