which card to go for

hi
hope fully with in the next month iam going to get a new graphics card
i had found this bfg gtx285 and i had made my mind up to get it when it is back in stock
dabs.com - BFG Graphics GeForce GTX 285 702Mhz 1GB PCI-Express 2.0 HDMI OCX (BFGEGTX2851024O)

but i have now found a gtx295 that is only £20 more this one
NVIDIA GTX295 1792MB GDDR3 Dual DVI HDTV Out PCI-E OEM Graphics Card - Ebuyer

iam now unsure what to do for the best

has any body got any advice

Check Radeon HD 5850 too. Test reports are extremely good. May also be cheaper in the UK.

does look a nice card but the 5870 looks better iam now not sure what to do as the radeon is a directx 11

5870 5870!!!!! really the 5870 is the better card and if you have the cash two of those on cf will smoke anything out there, but even a single 5870 is faster than the 285 and just as fast as the 295 and its cheaper

looking at the specs of them they do look dam good and the price of them is around £320
BUT what price and what spec are the nvidia gt300 going to be ???

Honestly? I'd go the 285. Less niggles with SLI issues and at the resolution you are using, it would handle pretty much most games maxed out.

What if any is the diffrence between ati and nvidia graphics cards
or is it down to personal prefrences

sorry for all the questions i just want to make sure iam geting the right
card as iam going to be spending around £300

um mostly personally preference, but with ati you get more power for the money where nvidia is more expensive..... but honestly i wouldn't get either of those nvidia cards i'd get a 5870, also as far as nvidias new card so far its been a flop and will prolly be slower than its 295.... and its price will prolly be way more than £320
