the latest nvidia drivers make my monitor go dark

I'm running 2 9800 gt's in Sli, and am using the out of the box 181.2 drivers. Everytime I try to update the drivers, when my computer reboots my monitor goes dark after the microsoft loading screen. I can hear the Vista start up theme, but my monitor is in standby.

I've tried using older beta drivers, and the same result. I don't have any problem running with the 181.2 drivers, but I'd like to update them for better gaming performance

specs: Vista Home Basic 32 bit, Intel Core2 Duo e8400 3.0 ghz, ASUS PN5-D motherboard, 4 gb ddr2 RAM, 2 EVGA 9800 GT's in SLI configuration.

I'd appreciate any help anyone could provide

Try the latest drivers 195.00 .. and you're running Windows Vista 32BIT that is part of the problem.. Doesn't have enough address space to utilize the resources.

Vista Basic is NOT made for gaming. I'd recommend getting a 64-bit OS.

32BIT at MAX will only address 3.3GB of Memory.

Main Machine. Just upgraded my RAM to 8GB. Next task will be to get a new processor for this machine ( 9650 was for my secondary machine )
Well, I tried the 195 drivers, and same problem. I understand the 64bit vs 32bit debate, but I don't see how that applies to my grfx cards. I've had no issues with Vista Home Basic, and I'm not exactly sure how this problem would be fixed by going to a 64bit OS.
