I think I found a card for my needs. Now the question is; can my system handle it. Please feel free to advise.

Check your PSU whether it is more than 500Watts

If you have the room (in your case), and it wont affect air flow, and your PSU will handle it, then it will be OK.

well that stinks..... we got about four hours of snow... so we had about an inch, and then a day of sleet :p haha

A few days late seeing this (don't get over here as often as I used to) but you'll be fine with that card on that PSU. Check my specs, same PSU with a HD 4830 and runnign with no problems at all. If fact the 5770 has a slightly lower power draw than mine,

Just don't try running SLI or Crossfire on it. ;)

One more thing, you can sometime down the road if you desire also upgrade that x2 for a nice PII x4 (depending on board version, supports up to the x4 965) and really make that card work. Plan on doing the same with mine when tax time comes.
