Video Card Problem?

Hello, I am having a issue and I think involves my video card not working. I am running on Windows Vista Home Premium, Video Card - ATI Radeon HD 4870, and I have a Acer LCD Monitor.

The problem itself I cannot describe. So I have uploaded videos of the problem occuring onto youtube and will link it here - Graphixs Problem 1 - Graphixs Problem 2


The problem itself has been happening every time I restart the computer for the last month and usually works on the 3rd or the 4th attempt of restarting. Now, today I haven't been able to get on it at all, I am using my brothers laptop atm.

I also have been slacking on updating the video card and drivers in general, lost all the cd's the drivers came with and all the drivers are from october 2007. So is there anything I can do or will I have to purchase a new video card. Thank you in advanced.

It looks like your cards gone bad. You can try to update the drivers, Graphics Drivers & Software
Bugt I doubt it'll work.

What brand is it? HIS, Saphire etc... Might want to look into the wsrrentee, as you may still qualify.

This looks like a Moniter problem than a Graphics card because if your Card was done then the Windows Writing...Etc would be Distarted as well

Do you have another Moniter that you can use? There maybe a Defective Pixel(s) on the Miniter Screen causing this

Well I don't have another monitor to use, so I am kind of screwed. I will go out tonight and try buying a new monitor and see if it works. Thanks for your input guys.

I tried switching monitors with my neighbor and mine wrked fine, so it is the video card. any suggestions of semi-cheap and good video cards for running games? ex: tf2, css etc.

A 5750 is just under 150 and the 5770 is in around 175. At $200 you'll want a 460...

Sorry I am from the UK and Of course I do not know what is Cheap when it comes to Dollers But I Can suggest good Video Cards if you want

Shadow, just troll Newegg.

Anything over $170 will be good for gaming.

A 1Gig 460 is $220 and is looking to be the best at or around $200-230

DO NOT GET A 465! They suck power.

Go ATI if you want to spend under $200, something like thde 5770
