HDMI + Graphics Card

I got a brand new graphics card. Nvidia Geforce GT520 2GB with HDMI output. I have a 32-inch LCD TV that I use as a monitor. Before I was plugging in via VGA cable and audio cable. I decided I wanted to plug in the new graphics card with the HDMI cable. My problems are:

1. Bad resolutions. I went threw windows control panel and display settings. Went threw ALL the resolutions and none of them fit right on the 32-inch screen. I also went threw the Nvidia control panel resolutions and again none fit on the screen. I tried the adjust desktop size in the Nvidia control panel but it keeps reverting to a resolution of 800x600 which is way to big. The main resolution problem is the screen is so big it's outside the TV (if that makes sense) or it to small there is a black border around the screen or it fits but the words on the screen are hard to read.

2. Colors are to vibrant. They are so vibrant it looks washed out and I get a headache from just looking at the screen. I'm not to concerned about the color as I can probably turn down the digital vibrance in the Nvidia control panel to fix this. But it's hard to adjust that when the screen resolution is just horrid.

If anyone with a similar setup (32 inch TV as Monitor) can help me fix this screen resolution problem then I would be greatly appreciated.

Also computer is completely updated via windows update, I have the latest Nvidia driver for my graphics card. I also tried created a custom resolution but I don't know what I'm doing and whatever I did it said that it wouldn't work anyways so it didn't save. If anymore information is needed feel free to ask.

In your nvidia control panel find scaling options. There should be 3 settings: Fit to aspect ratio (black borders), Center (black boarders all the way around the screen like a square). and Stretch to fit screen. You want Stretch to fit screen.

Note: your options might not be called these in scaling options (i use ati) But select stretch to full screen, Full Screen OR fit to screen, are some of the names. HOPE I HELPED a wee bit

The TV colors are set to normal. As for the scaling I have that option with VGA hook-up but when I hook up with the HDMI I only get option desktop size which as I said reverts it to 800x600 and then you are able to scale it that way but it scales it on a bad resolution.

What tv is it?

And you did install the proper drivers correct?

The tv is a Coby TFDVD3295S2. As for the graphic drivers I uninstalled the old ones completely, restarted the computer and installed the new ones completely and everything seems to be working fine except as stated, resolution and very vibrant colors.

Sorry..... Unfotunately all tv setups are not the same, so what works for a sharp, Sony or whatever might not wrk on yours, especially with your issues.

Are you "Summer" on Nvidia?

Is it possible to have another computer try and hook up to it?

Yes I might be "Summer" on Nvidia because I posted over there as well for a couple issues regarding this.

Edit: Mainly I just need to fix the resolution problem I don't know how.

Maybe the HDMI cable is bad ?

I hear ya on that, but, one thing to keep in mind, Brand New Sata cables are known to be bad, still could be bad , even if it is brand new. Just a thought .

I understand what you mean Yard dog and I went over this before when I was having problems with the VGA cable on this same exact TV. I think this TV is just a piece of sh*t seriously.

When I hooked up the computer threw the VGA cable I got a great resolution but all the colors are red. I returned/exchanged the VGA cable. I even returned/exchanged the TV. Same problem. That's why I got this newer video card and tried HDMI. Ugh!

Really I can handle the VGA hookup better than the HDMI hookup. The only situation that I'm having is the Nvidia Control Panel Desktop Color Settings. If I make a custom color setting certain games when they start up switch to the default settings it was before I changed it even though it hasn't changed in the control panel. It's changed on the screen. I just need to know now how to prevent these games from changing the color settings.

Any chance you have another TV to check this out on ?

Yes I have another TV in the other room but it doesn't have VGA hookup only HDMI I could try it out. Will have to get back to you on that as it requires me to move computer into another room and I don't feel like doing all of that today.
