| | Radical idea Hey Microsoft, I have a radical idea - say, if you product - Foldershare - has stopped functioning for 3+ days, maybe at some point you'd consider letting users know what/if is up and when you expect users might be able to connect again. Yeah, I know the program is free but that doesn't exclude MS from the responsibility for keeping users informed. Otherwise, what's going to happen is easy to guess - X % of your user base is going to bail for the competition. One clue is the number of threads on this forums asking about alternatives in recent months... The program is great, but what MS is doing to it right now is like a slow drawn-out death. Shame. Just my 2c, -Alex |

FolderShare team asking what's going on, but no response yet. I think any serious outages (something lasting longer than a couple of hours) should be posted about in this forum at the bare minimum. |

| | Re: Radical idea I second that. Yes, please do continue to apply pressure. Nobody likes a squeaky wheel but it gets the grease. This outage is especially brutal. I've emailed my contacts on the > FolderShare team asking what's going on, but no response yet. | | RE: Radical idea What are the "competition"? I don't see any competition for the price and functionality of FS. PF only lets you have 3 synch folders in the free version, but it also doesn't let you access some of your more "sensitive" folders, like Documents & Settings. So, when FolderShare is actually online and the clients will actually bother to log in and stay logged in, it seems to be the best of the worst, so far. I wish we could find more options. |

| | RE: Radical idea Styler001, We're seriously looking at moving to BeInSync. Did you receive any support from the BIS folks when it wiped out your Thunderbird inbox? Was that on a recent version? I did complete searches on my hard drives, but the files were definitely lost. I was too pissed off that it could even happen that I uninstalled the program right away. And, yes, it was their most recent version...well, whatever the most recent version was that you could download from their site a couple weeks ago. It'll be a long time before I even begin to consider giving their product a try again. |

| | RE: Radical idea Well that certainly sucks. And this FolderShare with their broken servers doesn't make me happy either. Maybe I can hire a temp to copy files back-and-forth between my machines with a USB drive every time I go to get coffee or use the can. That's where I'd like to go today. Hey, if somebody from Microsoft is on here, would you like me to donate a new server to host FolderShare? I have FedEx one to your office tomorrow before 10am. | | Re: Radical idea > BIS somehow wiped out my complete Thunderbird inbox Can I suggest that synching an inbox is a very bad idea? There are a lot of things that can go wrong. Use IMAP instead. |
