| | Current Update Thanks for your comments guys, we are working to resolve all these issues. Current status: System is at ~92% capacity, hence most of the users are connected and syncing. A number of users remains disconnected from our machines though and that number is diminishing. This is done mostly to prevent a spike in our system as we are still working on fixing some issues that caused this downtime. Our apologies for all the delays, we are working to resolve this as fast as possible. Thank you for your patience, Anton Katz Program Manager - Windows Live FolderShare |

| | RE: Current Update It is evening here in Michigan on the 14th and I have been waiting over an hour for my computer to connect, but no luck. Maybe you could over to Apple and see if they could suggest a solution. | | RE: Current Update 92% is just swell if you are in that category and clearly I am not. You people really need to either support this product appropriately or unplug it. ANd please don't thank me for my patienc - that ran out "Anton Katz [MSFT]" wrote: Quote: > Thanks for your comments guys, we are working to resolve all these issues. > > Current status: > System is at ~92% capacity, hence most of the users are connected and > syncing. | | Re: Current Update The problem for me is that even after my computers eventually connect the syncing is taking place at a snail's pace. Over last night I had 48 1kb files to sync and it competed 45 of them. Today I have about 100 files totaling 1.5MB that needed to sync. The computers were connected for hours and only about 20 of those files synced. So the connection is only a small part of the problem for me. Thanks for posting on the status of the system. |

| | RE: Current Update thanks for the update, Anton. If you provide even more info it will be much appreciated. For instance, will FS be supported at the current level, less so or more so in the near future? Why was there no acknowledgment of the problem which began, when--Friday? -- until Monday, and then the info you provided was not accurate? My only conclusion is that the resources necessary to provide you--and us--an accurate assessment, let alone increase the uptime of FS, just isn't in place. If the status quo is what we should expect in the future that would be of great value to users who rely on FS. Thanks,Dan |

| | RE: Current Update Anton, Thanks for an update. The problem is I don't quite understand what you are saying. "System is at ~92% capacity, hence most of the users are connected and syncing." System is at ~92% capacity means it is at 92% of the maximum that the system can handle. First that does not logically mean that most users are connected and syncing. That may be true, but your sentence does not make sence unless the system has as many users as it can handle and only 92% of them are as of yet connected. If this is the case no wonder we have problems. Do systems normally run at 100% capacity? What do you do with the next user? I don't thin you are saying what you mean to say. Do you mean to say that 92% of users are currently logged in and syncing? If so that is good news. What is the rate of change in that percentage. Do you see it going up a percent an hour of every few hours? Also just becuase people are connecting it does not mean they are syncing at decent speeds. So of the 92% how many are still activley syncing becuase the system is so slow? "A number of users remains disconnected from our machines though and that number is diminishing. This is done mostly to prevent a spike in our system as we are still working on fixing some issues that caused this downtime." So am I to infer from this that you are throtteling user connections in order to prevent the system from overloading? That would be consistent with running near capacity. And your statement on fixing issues leads me to beleive the system has a flaw when too many users are active at one time. Is this true? And, if you say this is the "cause" of the downtime then obviously this point was reach during normal operations, which again indicates the system is running at over very close to capacity on a regular basis. So, saying that the system is returning to normal does not mean we are out of the woods. It just means everyone is pilling back into a VW bug with a duct taped axel. It's going to break again. Just tell us the truth. Tell us your systems are maxed out and you are unable to scale them to handle the load. Tell us that in the current configuration this problem is likey to be around for a while unless a number of users abandon FolderShare or you find a way to add capacity to the system. Tell us your new system will not be ready for a few more month (I'm assuming for some of your previous posts that MS has an update to FolderShare in the pipe-line) so we can decicde what to do. It's now almost 11:00 PM on 11/14 PST. I am still not connected. What is your capacity now and I will calculate how soon there is a chance I will connect. P.S. Your update to the home page is laughable. Changing the date and tweaking a few words does not an update make. You make the troubles weare having sound trivial. |

Any performance indicator which claims FS is now running close to 100% of normal is not useful as a fair description of the system's condition. Tony |
