    Free is NOT an excuse!

So many of you are saying we shouldn't complain becuase FolderShare is free
    and in Beta.

FolderShare is not a gift. It is a product put out by a big company. The
fact that it cost us no money does not mean it is free. MS is getting
something from us. They get eyeballs, reputation, appreciation, the ability
to market value added services and most importantly our trust. Especially
with a product like FolderShare where it provides an important service with
our data and files. MS gets something or they would not be providing
    FolderShare. MS is a business.

And that's ok. In fact it's a good way to run a business and one that is
becoming more common these days. But it does still come with the same
responsibility as products being sold. You must support it and you must be
willing to listen to complaints about poor service.

With Microsoft they have a reputation to uphold. Reguardless of how you feel
about MS you expect them to provide a basic level of service based upon their
size and standing as a service provider. I would not expect the same from a
fly-by-night two person outfit providing a similar service.

I complain because Microsoft is taking my trust lightly. I expect more and
so should you and MS of themselves.

    Hey Drew,

Although FolderShare is a free service, we do not treat it any differently
than any other service that we run.

We have made significant investments in the code since this was acquired by
Microsoft, and you will see these rolled out in the coming months.

In the mean time, please hang in there while we recover from the failures we
    hit this week.

    thanks again for your patience.

Thanks for confirming that we can hold you to the high standard we should
    expect from Microsoft.

At this point it is clear that FolderShare has suffered a very significant
breakdown. Things like this do happen and I understand the need to be patient
as recovery will undoubtably take some time. My hope is that lessons are
    learned and not forgotten.

A good response, Andrew. I only wish come of the complainers on this issue
would stop and think as you obviously did.
