FolderShare Maintenance Update - WE'RE DONE!

Hello FolderShare Friends,

We're excited to let you know that all maintenance on Windows Live
FolderShare is complete!!!!!

The website www.foldershare.com has also been re-enabled.

Logon performance should be back to normal.

We appreciate the many words of support we have recieved.

Thank-you. Enjoy the system!

Mohammed and FolderShare Team.

RE: FolderShare Maintenance Update - WE'RE DONE!

Thanks. 9:30AM Ukraine (+2 GMT). All machines up and synced.

I would like to second the one post I read about updating FS so you have a
better way of knowing what FS has done and to resolve duplicates. I have to
look at activity logs, trash, and the file system to feel secure that I know
everything synced ok. FS was usually fast enough that this wasn't a problem,
but the events of this past week highlighted this weekness.

RE: FolderShare Maintenance Update - WE'RE DONE!

Hi Mohammed - thanks for the update. Pray tell, what actually happened that
cost us over a week of outages? I think we deserve a decent explanation.

What is the strategy for FS in the future? We have seen no development of
this product for over 3 years now since acquired by M$FT. What is next? I
understand that you probably can't drop the list of new things coming in a
reply, but I suggest you take a leaf out of the IE teams book, keep the ear
of this group going and keep the feature discussoin going.

We want FS to evolve. Thanks,

Alan

Thanks for your efforts. Here in Rhode Island sync time is averaging 10
seconds, comparible to what it has been in months past. Looks like your work
was not in vain. Again, thanks for your efforts.
By the way, now that you have been successful, will be hear from all those
who whined and moaned. Will they now shower you with compliments? I would not
hold my breath waiting for it, Mohammed. :-)

RE: FolderShare Maintenance Update - WE'RE DONE!

As a person who partially 'whined', (Freedom2surf ISP email handling left me
scarred) I still stand by my comment that it takes about 10 seconds of
automatic scripting to put up a notice on the main login or front page of the
foldershare website, to alert everyone to the fact that their files will not
be synced for free for an unspecified time and that they will be clutching at
straws because a company attached to the mighty microsoft could not get the
resources to sort out what was probably a simple hardware problem.

I notice that there is quite a reliable connection now and I am quite
curious to know what the cure was.

Anyone going to fill us in?
Compliments are in order for the foldershare front page login link to these
message boards and their flammable posts.

Its a shame that during the massive maintenance period, I was using my
weekend leisure time to sign up to three different ms exchange hosts AND
LEARN how to setup admin accounts/mailbox accounts in the hope that I could
have an efficient outlook synchronization system in place within 3-4 days
that would last through any possible foldershare failures to come.

Oh well, education is a good thing.

RE: FolderShare Maintenance Update - WE'RE DONE!

Thanks Mohammed... glad to have FS back up and running. Really appreciate
your efforts. FS is a great piece of software that has improved my workflow.

In the future, perhaps it would be possible to e-mail subscribers of planned
outages and updates? It took me a while to find this newsgroup.

Thanks again.

Thank you! It's unfortunate that it takes an outage to remind me how
much I depend on FS, but it is the truth. I'm relieved that everything
seems to be working correctly for me and also that MS continues to
support this important product.

My only suggestion is that transparency is your friend. Bad things are
going to happen, and when they do, please be upfront and clear about
what is happening. You took some good steps during this outage--but
you can take more next time!

Cheers, Marsh
