| Guest | Newbie: Synching My Documents I am brand new to FS. I am trying to sync My Documents from PC to LT. During the outage, I went ahead and manually copied entire folder from PC to LT ( about 9,600 MB). Today, with outage over, during sync- error message comes up, something like: Library over 10,000- must close LT My Documents. When I check My Docs on LT it is close to 11,000. I don't understand this. I'm thinking there must be a bunch of duplicates in LT. How to resolve this ? Thanks -- Brad |

| Guest | RE: Newbie: Synching My Documents This happened to me once when I tried to synch my music library. What happened was that the files were duplicated with a added tag... i.e. newdoc.doc is dupliacated as newdox-brad on LT. For me, I had to use desktop search software to search files by the tag and manually remove them. I don't know the best way to solve this problem, other than just making fresh copies of your files from your desktop and re-copying them onto your laptop and restarting foldershare. Alternatively, you could just let FS do the copying for you, depending on the size of the files. Stick with it though... good software at the right price. |

| Guest | RE: Newbie: Synching My Documents Before Microsoft bought out Foldershare, there were two types of accounts you could have. The free account allowed you to have containing anywhere up to 10,000 files within a library; paid accounts allowed for an unlimited amount of files within a library. It seems like that is still in place, based on your question; I don't have a library with that many files, so I can't confirm this, however, I did have a paid account way back when, just so I could support the service. | Guest | RE: Newbie: Synching My Documents Also, I forgot to mention this... it certainly is possible that there are duplicate files within the My Documents folder... as far as I know, Foldershare has no ability to check for this, so the only possible way that you could do this is to open up a search window on your computer and search the "My Documents" folder using the asterisk; once done, click on either the file type column header at the top or the file name column to sort the results; you'll also want to look at the last modified date of any possible duplicate files. If you find any duplicates based on file type or name, you'd have to delete them yourself. "Brad" wrote:

| Guest | RE: Newbie: Synching My Documents Thanks, VTS--I deleted My Docs on LT and started to let FS copy over as you suggested, but this is happening at the rate of about 60-80 kb/s. So will take days to transfer almost 10 GB ! How to "stop" synching and kill the command ? Then I think I'll just copy over through the router. -- Brad "vts" wrote:
